- Join a Support Group. No one knows what you are experiencing except others experiencing the same thing.
- Know about Alzheimer’s disease. Read books, go online, reach out to Alzheimer’s Groups.
- Be patient and kind. Remember, it’s the disease, not them.
- Find an understanding and empathetic support system with friends or others (see #1)
- Do Cognitive stimulation activities with your loved one. Listen to their favorite music,do word puzzles.
- Take care of yourself. Go to the doctor. Get some respite from a homecare professionals.
- Take care of financial, legal and planning issues. These tend to get put on the back burner and it is sometimes your options deplete as more time goes by. Find a trusted friend to help.
- Reach out to professionals. It will make your life easier.
