I have not been back to school in more than 15 years. But
September always emits an aura of New Beginnings that is different than
New Year’s. The summer weather is (slowly) waning as we anticipate
Fall days. Leaves are dropping or hinting at turning their
colors. And we bid goodbye to our summer activities whether it’s
the beach, bike riding running or hiking outside. We notice that we are
turning on our lights earlier than before, bidding goodbye to orange and
red sunsets.
Looking forward to changes in the air and looking within for
changes in us as September prepares us for a new beginning.
Freshly spruced yellow school busses whiz by with school children
(and their parents’) hope for a successful year.
It’s not the party atmosphere of January first. It’s a
time of renewal. It’s a time of reflection. It’s a time of hope.
And maybe a time for change.
