So much is written and talked about regarding bad news about companions and home health aides for seniors.  Every hour of every day there are great moments shared and lives spared because of home health care workers.

Of course, like any other industry, there are good and not so good people.  We have seen a lot of good at AMR Care Group…and we would like to share that good.

Dana, our seasoned companion, was taking Miss Alice out to lunch as usual.  She was speaking with Miss Alice as they drove away from the Assisted Living.  Dana noticed Miss Alice being more quiet than usual and when she looked over, Miss Alice was leaning to her right and not responding. Alice turned the car around and headed the few minutes back to the Assisted Living where she called 911.  Miss Alice suffered a heart attack and thanks to Dana received the proper care immediately and had an excellent recovery.

Mary Sue, 85 years old, is deaf and lives in a nursing home.  She had not been out for years.  Our companion Betty has been taking her out shopping and to lunch three times a week.  They communicate by writing. Mary Sue has not been happier according to the social worker at the nursing home.

Selma has dementia; she was fretting that she could not find her phone or her pocketbook.  The companion, Erma, found her pocketbook in the oven and she found the cell phone was wrapped in duck tape with the house phone.

We are appreciative of our companions and wanted to share a bit of  the good they do for our clients!
